There is nothing quite like watching the sunrise over the ocean… except perhaps, after a long day at the beach, watching the sunset over the jungle. From the rooftop terrace of the House of the Lucky Dogs, you can do both, AND you can also sunbathe with privacy and cool down in the rooftop pool.

With its treetop view of the mangrove jungle on one side, and the ocean view on the other, Casa Perros Afortunados offers our guests a beautiful place to stay, with all the amenities you might need while on holiday. A 3,000sf private house in the quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos, Mexico just 20 minutes from the Cancun airport, Casa Perros Afortunados is ready to welcome you.

Just a short stroll to the beach, a four-minute walk to restaurants, and steps to the town square where shopping, markets, and all the action happens, the House of the Lucky Dogs is situated perfectly. Puerto Morelos is still a colorful and traditional village with neighborhood roosters, local street produce stalls, and fishermen selling their fresh catch. You can experience it all and still have a peaceful place of your own to relax.

The house is designed with comfort in mind while still presenting guests with interesting and creative elements. Handmade masks, woven baskets, bright colours, and well-placed wall hangings mean that Casa Perros Afortunados will delight everyone who enters.

The functionality of the house has been given every attention. The fully equipped kitchen, which includes a five-burner gas stove with griddle, is spacious and offers seating at the island peninsula. You can enjoy a relaxed meal at the island or gather around the dining room table which seats up to eight.

In the sitting room is a comfortable sectional couch, ottoman, and two armchairs, lit by beautifully woven local baskets. The open concept main floor means that hopping up to refill your beverage doesn’t mean a pause in conversation.

The second floor Media Room with a smart TV, satellite service, DVD / VHS player, and comfortable lounge seating, provides a place for relaxed viewing on those quieter nights, and also has a long desk at which to work, should that be required. Wifi is strong and fast!

When the day is done, you can find rest in one of the three bedrooms, all of which have high-quality king-sized beds. The second-floor bedrooms are identical master suites that each offer ensuite bathrooms, and large, private balconies. The main floor bedroom has big windows with lots of light, and the full bathroom is adjacent to the room. It is situated off the living room area so provides easy access to all the main floor amenities.

When you arrive at Casa Perros Afortunados, you can enter via the secure gate and park your vehicle inside. The gardens surrounding the property are lush and offer a beautiful setting for relaxing with friends and family. A covered patio overlooks the rear garden and includes an outdoor ping pong table for those friendly competitions.

Being a House of Lucky Dogs means we will gladly also welcome your dog family members! We request that they not be over 30lbs though and that they not take any dips in the pool.

Puerto Morelos offers an amazing array of activities: dive or snorkel along the coral reef (a protected national park and part of the world's second largest coral reef), sport fishing in the Caribbean, in-home private massages, biking, golfing, beautiful underground cenotes with crystal clear water, or short drives to shopping and nightlife in Cancun or Playa del Carmen.

By Far the Nicest Place We've Rented

We had a fabulous time staying here. It is even more beautiful than the pictures and very spacious. We have stayed in PM many times and this was by far the nicest place we rented. It is 2 short blocks from the most beautiful beach. Katherine has the house well supplied with everything for a comfortable stay. We had an electrical issue (it was only late at night because the house also has solar power) due to the lines on the street, and Katherine had it fixed immediately, even on a holiday. The outdoor spaces, especially the huge roof deck are amazing. We did not cook at all but if you want to the kitchen is spacious and well stocked. The house is walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops in PM. Highly recommend this home and Katherine as host. I cannot wait to go back!

Hardest Part Was Leaving

Our family enjoyed every minute of our time in Puerto Morelos. Katherine was proactive in her communication before and during our trip and the guidebook she sent was so helpful. She even helped me source options when we had issues with our rental car from the airport. Roberto met us onsite as promised and was flexible as our trip from the airport was delayed. He checked in with us during our stay and was responsive when we had questions. The house is well appointed, extremely clean, and there is so much space to spread out. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and meals up on the roof and couldn't have asked for a better location. There are restaurants within a block or two, a convenience store across the street, and we frequented the fruit market nearby. I appreciated that we were a few blocks removed from the busier part of town and preferred the quiet residential location while only a few minutes walk from the beach. The hardest part of our trip was leaving!

Katherine took extra care in making sure our stay was comfortable by presenting a house that was super clean and nice. What a great space to spend our time in! Great house for a large group

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is perfect for a group of 6 and is in a great location. The beach, restaurants and shopping are all short walks. There is a fantastic breakfast place about 100 feet away and a little shop with snacks and drinks right across the street. The furniture is comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The dining table is large enough for everyone to dine together or play games, and the rooftop terrace is wonderful with covered seating, a bar and a small pool. The back courtyard is also pleasant and the ping pong table was a lot of fun. There are a lot of excellent restaurants on the next street over and a modern, well stocked grocery store a few blocks away. Rating, 5 stars (Airbnb)

This home is just a couple blocks from the shore and very close to all the shops/restaurants. Lucio- the house manager was very friendly and attentive and gave us recommendations (he speaks mostly Spanish). Short walk to the supermarket. The area is pretty quiet, Puerto Morelos seems to avoid much of the hustle and bustle of nearby locations like Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Even on the weekend, we didn't hear much music or noise after 11pm (although I think June is the low season). There were 5 of us in our group, and we all had plenty of space. The upstairs bar/pool area was great!

We had a wonderful time at this house with my two adult daughters and their significant others. I love the decor of this home. It was so nice to go to the beach club (unico) and then return home to this lovely place. The pool was a nice bonus. We felt comfortable contacting the owner for any concerns. I love the location. Just steps away from a nice bar/restaurant… and being across the street from the convenience store was very “convenient” :-)… the owners of the SIX(convenience store) were sweet people. Definitely recommend staying here. It was fun to get to know some of the local people.

Loved the space! Great open concept on the main floor. Bedrooms are spacious. Terrace and small pool on the roof - very cool. And a ping pong table for some friendly competition, so fun!

The house is beautiful, with wonderful amenities. The rooftop deck is amazing. Rooms are clean and comfortable. As a single woman staying there I felt very secure. The little Mercado across the street and the restaurant on the corner were a plus as was the close access to the beach and the town center. If I get the chance to visit the area again this will be my first choice.

Great place to stay. Pictures are accurate, place is actually larger than it appears in pictures. Super quick walk to beach and town square. Ping pong table was big hit for our family. AC works well, bottled water is provided. Beach chairs/umbrella available. Kitchen is well equipped. Would definitely stay here again.
